New Developments in Education Excellence

All Our Students Learn Mandarin

Walnut Hill Elementary is the only DISD elementary school with a full-time Mandarin Chinese teacher. All Walnut Hill students are taught Mandarin as part of the standard school curriculum.

We are an Official Leader in Me Campus

Through a generous donation, Walnut Hill Elementary has become an official Leader in Me school. We will be using Franklin Covey’s Leader In Me curriculum to teach 21st century leadership and life skills to students and create a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader. All students participate in this award-winning leadership program on our campus.

We are Strong in Gifted Education

This past summer, all Walnut Hill teachers completed the training for educating gifted students. All of our teachers are certified gifted teachers and members of TAGT.

We Have the Top Rated Teachers in the District.

90% of Walnut Hill teachers are ranked as “Distinguished Teachers” by Dallas ISD’s TEI evaluation system based on their student data and performance. To earn the title of distinguished teacher, teachers must perform in the top 20% of all teachers in the district.
