Blue Ribbon Award Winner

Walnut Hill Elementary School has been chosen as a 2019 national blue ribbon school for its work to close student achievement gaps.

The Blue Ribbon Schools Program announced the national 2019 Blue Ribbon Schools award recipients on Thursday, September 26th, 2019. Founded in 1982, Blue Ribbon Schools is a U.S. Department of Education program that recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where exemplary progress has been made toward closing achievement gaps among subpopulations while also maintaining high achievement levels among all students.

Each nominated school has an economically disadvantaged population of 30.9% or greater. Nominated schools complete a rigorous application process through the U.S. Department of Education. The award winning schools will be recognized at the Blue Ribbon Schools awards ceremony held on Thursday, November 14, 2019 – Friday, November 15, 2019 in Washington, DC at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center.
